4 Back to School Shopping Traditions You Can Start Now

Back to school is an emotional time for many parents and kids. You’ve fallen into a comfortable routine for the summer but now, everything from what you eat for breakfast to when you go to bed will change to accommodate the new school schedule. However, you can turn this hectic time into a positive experience with a few back to school shopping traditions you can start now.

Here are a few good ideas to help get you started:

1. When shopping for clothing and other school supplies, make it a tradition to have lunch at your kid’s favourite restaurant. The kids will love it and it’ll help get them excited about going back to school.

2. Look for discounts and sales throughout the spring and summer to pick up a few specialty items like designer clothing or shoes that might otherwise be hard to fit into the budget.

3. Clean out the closets and drawers before going shopping for new back to school outfits and recycle the clothes you can no longer wear. This way, you’re helping others and making room in your closets for new items.

4. Buy each child something special at the beginning of the school year. Allow your kids to decide what to buy (within reason, of course) and it gives them something exciting to look forward to each year.

Starting a back to school shopping tradition is a great way to help get kids excited about school. It gives them something to look forward to and makes the transition from summer vacation to going to school a little bit easier. Making them part of the shopping process also helps them see the value of money and be aware of your budget spending.
