Breakfasts for Valentine’s Day

February is the month of love, hearts, and kisses! As a child, I couldn’t wait to receive homemade Valentine’s cards from my friends at school and cinnamon heart candies. I also remember crafting heart shaped cards and gifts for my parents. Ever since my kids were born, we made special family traditions by celebrating Valentine’s Day with yummy sweet breakfasts or delicious dinners.

My husband always brings home a beautiful dozen of red roses as a centerpiece for the dining room table and chocolates for an after dinner treat. To add some LOVELY ambience, we decorate the living room with a few heart shaped decorations and red candles. Even though my kids are adults now, I still enjoy preparing special sweet breakfasts for Valentines’ Day and decorate a superb festive table in red and white!

I find certain foods are well served and more representative for Valentine’s Day, like Strawberry Chocolate Chip Cookies , a red velvet cupcake or Heart Cookie Dough Truffles. One of my favourite recipes for the cold winter months is a Hot Cocoa Cupid beverage that the whole family enjoys after being outdoor or while watching a movie on Valentine’s Day!
