March Break is just around the corner! Do you have anything planned for your child to do during this time away from school? If not, take a look at these 10 March Break Activities and Camps your child can have fun attending this year either on their own or with the family!

Camps and Events

1.  Camp Fortune March Break Camps March 5 and 12, 2018 from 10 am -12 pm or 1 pm -3 pm

Have your kids hitting the slopes with Camp Fortune’s 3 and 4 day programs! Kids get a 2-hour lesson, then can ski for the rest of the afternoon! Your lift ticket is valid for the day.

2. Ottawa Little Theatre March Break Drama Camps – March 12-16, 2018 from 9 am-4 pm

Have a performer at home? Sign them up the Ottawa Little Theatre’s March Break Camp to let them explore their dramatic or comedic side! Campers will be actively involved in the process of creating theatre using tools such as improvisation, stage blocking, tableaux and vocal exercises. Campers will put on a performance on their last day of camp for family and friends.

3. TVOkids Book Tour Supported by TC Bank with the Ottawa Public Library Chamber, Ben Franklin Place, 101 Centrepointe Drive, Monday March 12, 2018 at 10 am

Kids can enjoy the world of reading when the TVOkids Book Tour visits Ottawa for March Break. Two books will be featured and read to guests at this event: the TD-selected Andrea Lynn Beck’s book Good Morning, Canada, and one of the TVOkids chosen Book Club books. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet and take a selfie with one of the TVOkids hosts! Each child will receive a special TVOkids gift bag that includes a copy of the TD selected book.  Arrive 45 minutes early for crafty activities.

Museum Fun

4. Barnyard Break at the Canadian Agriculture and Food Museum – March 3-18, 2018 from 9:30-4 pm –

The swing into spring is on at the Canadian Agriculture and Food Museum! An array of animal and kitchen demonstrations are available for visitors to take in. You can also learn how maple syrup is made and get a taste of maple taffy on snow. Children’s story time and creative crafts will also be on hand for visitors to enjoy. Love the Ottawa RedBLacks? Their mascot, Big Joe, will be on hand for a demonstration being put on by the McGill University Woodsmen Team to be a part of their interactive performance that explores the history of Canada’s lumberjacks. There will also be a wooden spoon workshop put on by storyteller Louis Mercier for visitors to enjoy!

5. Canadian Museum of History – March 3-19, 2018 from 9:30 am-5pm 

A flurry of events waits for March Break revellers at the Canadian Museum of History! Visitors can escape to the circus by taking in the Dreamworks Animation: The Exhibition exhibit, by watching Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted at Cine+, make shields for dragon training fun, be a part of the circus with their fun activities and so much more! There is no end to the fun to be had!

6. Canadian Museum of Nature March 3-18, 2018 from 9 am-5 pm

The Canadian Museum of Nature is all a flutter with their March Break activities! Visitors can enjoy fun in the sun as they are taken to Costa Rica in their children’s activity zone. You can also learn about the science of insects in their Lab, and create fossil casts in their Science Corner.

7. Canada Aviation and Space Museum March 3-18, 2018 from 10 am-5 pm 

Explore the universe this March Break at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum! Each day, the Museum will feature a different aspect of basic astronaut training. Flight training, parachute training and fun interactive activities are in store for guests to take in. There will also be daily demonstrations of Shaping the Future in Space, and self-guided craft activities as well for guests to do.

8. Canada Science and Technology Museum, March 3-18 from 9 am -5 pm 

Activites galore are in store for visitor at the Canada Science and Technology Museum. They have a brand new state-of-the-art museum that houses favourite exhibits such as the locomotives and the Crazy Kitchen, as well as new exhibits like ZOOM – Children’s Innovation Zone and Exploratek maker studio. There are also great events for the family at the Museum to watch, be a part of, and enjoy!

9. Diefenbunker Museum March 3-18, 2018 from 11 am-4 pm 

Dive into the world of espionage at the Diefenbunker Museum this March Break in the Allard Gallery (400 Level). Visitors can test their spy skills in their laser course, crate and decipher secret codes, and put together your own disguise for a day of fun!


Family Fun Activities

10. Free Indoor Skating at TD Place – March 12, 13, 15, 16, 2018 from 1-3 pm

Grab the gang and lace up your skates and enjoy some ice time at the Free Indoor Skating at TD Place. Have fun skating on the home ice of the Ottawa 67’s for an afternoon of fun.

    I think it’s a great thing for the kids and parents to be able to get your kids into activities that will keep them occupied but also teach them something that they can keep with them and all while having family time
