Winter is the time to #WarmUpWithSUBWAY!

Winter has arrived to Canada’s capital! Along with the beauty the snow and ice creates to cover the landscape, this season brings chilly days that make us want to snuggle up and feel cozy. One great way my family likes to get together and stay warm is by sipping warm bowls and mugs of soup. I’m sure many Canadians feel the same way, which is why SUBWAY® Canada launched a new French Onion soup that will be available for a limited time!

Did you know all of SUBWAY Canada’s soup options are free from artificial colours and flavours? I know! I wasn’t aware of this until I went to the #WarmUpWithSUBWAY Soup Social at the Rink of Dreams on January 21st. SUBWAY® Canada created a pop-up complimentary soup bar for Canadians to try their yummy soups. They also sampled their new French Onion Soup for us to taste and enjoy! It features a savoury, rich beef broth simmered with sliced sautéed sweet onions. It is topped with a toasted cheese bread to compliment this soup. This soup is a mouthful of goodness you won’t want to miss!

Why a Soup Social? Soup is a social food, and SUBWAY® soups are a feel-good way to warm up this winter! My family was invited to take part in this event, and we were really excited to be a part of all of the action!

When we arrived at the Rink of Dreams at Ottawa City Hall, we were surprised by the huge tent SUBWAY® Canada had set up for their Soup Social event. It was warm and cozy, perfect for family and friends to sit down, sip and enjoy a warm bowl of soup! There was also a comfy seating area for visitors to shake off a bit of the cold and play board games to break the ice to meet and get to know other Soup Social attendees.

SUBWAY Canada was ready to serve us three of the soups they offer in restaurants: Homestyle Chicken Noodle, Cream of Broccoli and their new French Onion soups. Each one was piping hot and waiting for us to taste. My eldest wanted to sip the Cream of Broccoli soup, while my younger daughter went with the Homestyle Chicken Noodle Soup. I was the trailblazer and tried the French Onion Soup.

We all had fun tasting and talking about our delicious soups from SUBWAY® Canada. Their French Onion Soup was a delight with every gooey and savoury spoonful! The combination of flavours was amazing! The beef broth, sliced sautéed sweet onions and melted cheese were so much fun to eat with the huge chunks of cheese bread in my bowl. I tried to make sure I had a bit of everything in every spoonful I ate. I wanted to take in all of the flavours of this soup with each mouthful of soupy goodness. This has become my new favourite soup!

My younger daughter enjoyed making new friends with other girls who attended the Soup Social. She was quiet and shy when we arrived, but then, after she had a bit of soup, she was laughing and chatting with her new friends while enjoying a board game in the sitting area. It was one of the highlights of her weekend!

We all had a great day at the SUBWAY Canada Soup Social! We met old and new friends, had fun playing board games and building bonds over bowls of yummy soup! We ended the day with a quick skate at the Rink of Dreams before heading home. It was my daughter’s first time gliding across the ice, and she enjoyed every minute of this experience.
