Conceiving a child is an issue for one in six Canadians. Out of this select group, only 15% of them are able to afford the in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments and other assisted reproductive technologies available in Canada. Rinovum Women’s Health has a more affordable option for people who are trying to conceive a child. They are launching a new and innovative fertility product in Canada called The Stork!

The Stork conception aid combines science and innovation by using the cervical cap insemination technology that health care professionals have been using for decades to allow those who are having trouble conceiving to do so in the comfort of their own homes. The Stork is a new option that could help couples the following fertility difficulties:
• Low sperm count
• Motility Issues
• Unfavourable Vaginal Environnent (pH imbalance)
• Ovulation Timing

The Stork conception aid is a kit that includes The Conceptacle® and an applicator. The Conceptacle is a cervical cap that is inside of a condom-like sheath made out of silicone. It us used to collect and contain the semen during intercourse, then is rolled down and off of the cervical cap that is contained at the bottom of the Conceptacle.

The applicator is a tampon-like applicator to direct the semen close to the cervical opening. The cervical cap is then placed onto the applicator that cradles the cap, closing it so it is easier to slide into place. The applicator is then inserted into the vagina and up into the opening of the cervix. The cervical cap is to be in place for four to six hours, allowing for sperm to swim up to the egg. It can then be removed by pulling the tampon-like cord.

This product is now available at select pharmacies in Canada. Rinovum is excited about the launch of The Stork, and hopes this product will help Canadians with infertility problems finally start the families they have been dreaming to have!
