The Braderie in Ottawa – A Shopper’s Paradise!

Okay, I admit it, I’m a fashion-aholic.  For me, clothes and accessories like shoes, bags, jewellery and hats are a different form of art work.  I love looking at clothing, seeing what designers have created for people to wear ad look good in. At the E&Y Centre, over 60 designers from Quebec displayed their designs at a version of the Braderie here in Ottawa.   I had never attended the Braderie, otherwise known as The Big Fashion Sale by Quebec Designers, but I was excited to find out what it was all about!

For a bit of a back story on the Braderie, it began in 1994, it has grown from having only 50 customer to draw over 25 000 over a four-day period in Montréal and Québec City.  This event showcase features both well-established and new designers, allows for shoppers to get up and close to the designers behind these pieces.  It also offers discounted prices on items designers want sold, as well as fresh new designs to show the public.

I attended the show with fellow mom, Kelly, during a much needed Mom’s Day Out.  When we entered the hall that housed the Braderie, it was clothing as far as the eye could see!  We decided to just go through the Braderie one aisle at a time to try and take everything in.

The designers present at the Braderie had such beautiful designs!  Here were  some of my favourite pieces from my favourite vendors:

Dress and Skirt

              SAMSUNG                                    SAMSUNG

Blouses

SAMSUNG                   SAMSUNG            SAMSUNG

Trench Coat

SAMSUNG

Bags

SAMSUNG      SAMSUNG       SAMSUNG

And I couldn’t forget about the jewellery!

SAMSUNG     SAMSUNG      SAMSUNG

The Braderie was all we could talk about on our way home, dreaming about what we would have wanted to have added to our closets.  We had a great time pa-rousing the hall full of amazing and creative designs.  I was so glad we attended the Braderie, and I hope it comes back next year!

I'm a huge sports fan, have a love of reading, and like experiencing new things whenever I can. I am now a mother of three children (11, 1 and 7 months old) and am kept constantly on my toes. My blog, Pieces of Me, is my way of sharing what I have enjoyed and encountered in my life so far as a mother. So far, being a mom has had it's expected ups and downs, but that's what makes being a parent so fulfilling for me. I've loved and learned from what's happened so far, and I can't wait to see what's in store for me next. I hope you enjoy the journey with me!

I am not a super fashion person nor a trend follower, but I stopped in at this sale because I was at a different event in the same building. Boy was I overwhelmed!!! I felt rather intimidated and SO fashion UN-knowledgeable. I saw some beautiful clothing and browsed through the huge boot section. I had no clue what to look for! Maybe I should take someone who knows their stuff with me next time!

Wow I’m so jealous because I’m in Niagara right now and we don’t have anything like that down here. I probably would have to be dragged out of there.

Wish we had a place like that in our area
