Start Learning Early with VTech! #Review and #Giveaway ~ CAN 05/23

| April 19, 2016 | 65 Comments

There are so many ways to get younger children learning. One way my kids love learning is through play. At my home, we make learning into games so it is fun for them to retain what they are picking up and to retain. I was asked to see if my kids wanted to continue their learning by reviewing interactive toys from VTech Canada.

Here are the three toys my little ones had the chance to play with:

  • Baby Amaze™ Peek & Learn Doll™
  • Baby Amaze™ Learn to Talk & Read Baby Doll™
  • Count & Learn Turtle™

Baby Amaze™ Peek & Learn Doll™ is an interactive doll that plays a classic game of peek-a-boo with children when they cover her eyes with her hands. She also helps kids learn different parts of their body, counting and nurturing concepts. She knows over 60 adorable phrases and songs, and will sing child-friendly melodies on a 15-minute timer. Kids can also help to feed her baby bottle.

My son loved caring for this doll. As soon as I got her out of the box, he swooped in, took her out of my hands and became her parent. He fed her a bottle, played pee-a-boo with her and listened to her sing songs. He also liked pointing out parts of her body as instructed. When playtime was over, he gently put her put her to sleep in his bed.

Baby Amaze™ Learn to Talk & Read Baby Doll™ will learn more words and phrases the more a child speaks and interacts with it. After one of her four buttons is pressed, when spoken to, she will repeat what has been said to her. Children can also teach her more vocabulary by reading the vocabulary books that come along with this doll on topics such as food, animals and objects around your home. She also encourages nurturing role play by requesting her bottle or pacifier.

Our little girl cuddled this doll for hours of fun! She loved speaking and hearing “her baby” speak back to her. My daughter loved teaching her doll about different animals and things by reading the books she came with. The animal book was her favourite to read. Another thing my little one loved doing was holding the doll and doing everything she could to care for it.

Children can learn early math skills with the Count & Learn Turtle™! When the light-up number buttons are pressed, our little turtle friend will count and say the number selected. The activity buttons help kids add two numbers and light up the correct number of buttons. The rollers help to introduce shapes, colours and instruments to kids. This part of the turtle adds sounds into the melodies and sing-along songs in the music activity. Memory and hand-eye coordination skills can be put to the test by having them watch the buttons light up one by one and have them repeat a pattern.

Both kids loved learning with our little turtle. The lights and sounds had them eagerly captivated! They enjoyed pushing the rollers to call out the shapes or to add to the music they were listening to. My daughter had so much fun testing her memory when she was trying to repeat the pattern the turtle presented. It was a bit of a challenge for her to add up some of the numbers together, but she did like attempting to figure it out! She was getting better with each pattern.

Overall, my kids enjoyed playing while learning with these interactive toys from VTech Canada! They really loved caring for the Baby Amaze™ dolls and learning how to interact with these toys. They helped my kids see of what it was like for me when they were infants and young toddlers exploring their world. The Count & Learn Turtle™ was an excellent toy for my kids to play with! They love counting and learning patterns. They also are beginning to catch on to add numbers, which is a skill that is relatively new to them. I am glad they are continuing their learning in a fun way with these toys from VTech Canada!

I'm a huge sports fan, have a love of reading, and like experiencing new things whenever I can. I am now a mother of three children (11, 1 and 7 months old) and am kept constantly on my toes. My blog, Pieces of Me, is my way of sharing what I have enjoyed and encountered in my life so far as a mother. So far, being a mom has had it's expected ups and downs, but that's what makes being a parent so fulfilling for me. I've loved and learned from what's happened so far, and I can't wait to see what's in store for me next. I hope you enjoy the journey with me!
