Mother’s Day is fast approaching and I’m so excited!
Every year my kids surprise me with some great home-made or school-made crafts! These are the gifts that I cherish forever and ever. From little painted hand prints to a bag of tea in a teacup, Mother’s Day gifts can’t be beat.
Teachers are getting more and more creative as the years go by, I find, and I love it! I have to give a big shout out to those who know just how special it is for our children to be able to present us with a heart-felt, hand-made craft on this special day.
Over the years I’ve gotten many wonderful gifts for many occasions but the ones that are sitting neatly in my bedside table are those from Mother’s Days gone by. There’s just something so great about being a Mom that makes me want to cherish everything I get from my kids while they’re young!
My most favourite gift was a painted box. The outside was painted pink and had little puffy colourful hearts glued on top. The inside lid had a little note glued on which read: When I am at school, or when we are far apart, you may get a little sad, but you’re always in my heart. So here are some hugs and kisses for you when I’m away, to remember that I love you, each and every day. And inside the box were many little pieces of blue and pink paper which had XOX XOX OXO on them. SO CUTE!
I know that soon they will grow up and these hand-made gifts will not be so readily given. Soon they will favour store-bought items over crafts and that will be ok too. For now, though, I will cherish the looks on their faces, those bright smiles, when they give me their ‘special’ gift.
There’s nothing that warms my heart more.
Happy Mother’s Day to all you wonderful Mom’s out there!
