Items Become Art with Pom Pom Wow! #Giveaway #HolidayGiftGuide ~ CAN 12/23

| November 24, 2016 | 38 Comments

Art is something that captures the heart of kids in many different ways. They like to express themselves in different mediums to show off their creative side. Creating art can also help to personalize a mundane item that is all their own. Pom Pom Wow asked my family if we could find an ordinary object around our home and make it their own with their Decoration Station!

Pom Pom Wow allows for kids can create and use pom-poms that have their own personal touch by using this Decoration Station! There are six different ways to decorate their pom-poms using paint. The pom-poms then get stuck on an object to make it look fun and personalize it as their own. This set is recommended for kids age 6+.

Our kids love to draw. We have a box to house all of their markers, pencil crayons and other tools to make their works of art. We thought it was a good idea to add a bit of flair to a cup that they can use to hold some of their favourite drawing implements in so they no longer have to dig around their box to find what they use most.

Once our Decoration Station was set up, my kids were excited to get to work on decorating their pom-poms with the different techniques this set provided. They really liked moving around the Station to create cute and fun pom-poms designs. It was easy for them to load the pom-poms into the holders, then press, spray or dip them into the different colours of paint. What they were a bit put off about was that they had to wait up to 4 hours for the paint to dry.

After the pom-poms were dry, they liked adding the glue dots to the pom-poms to affix them to the surface of the cup. They decided to go freeform and place a mix of the decorated pom-poms over the surface of the cup.

Here is the result of their Pom Pom Wow creation.

The issue we had with the Pom Pom Wow Decoration Station was that my kids were able to pick the pom-poms off of the cup easily. The pom-poms also were not able to stick back onto the glue dots after a while. We used a tacky glue to stick the pom-poms back onto the cup to make more of a permanent seal so they could not be removed again.

Overall, my kids enjoyed designing with the Pom Pom Wow Decoration Station. They had a great time trying out all of the ways they could add their own fun colours to the pom-poms and then decorate items around their home to make them feel more like their own.

About the Author ()

My name is Lian Wright. Born in Toronto, I came to Ottawa as a student to study Political Science at Carleton University, and came away with an Honours Degree, and decided to stay. I'm a huge sports fan, have a love of reading, and like experiencing new things whenever I can. I am now a mother of three children (11, 1 and 7 months old) and am kept constantly on my toes. My blog, Pieces of Me, is my way of sharing what I have enjoyed and encountered in my life so far as a mother. So far, being a mom has had it's expected ups and downs, but that's what makes being a parent so fulfilling for me. I've loved and learned from what's happened so far, and I can't wait to see what's in store for me next. I hope you enjoy the journey with me! Author's website.
