How I Get my Preschooler to Eat ~ Tuesday Tips

When I began my maternity leave last year, my oldest daughter was almost three and starting to figure out that she was picky. This meant that on days where she was home from daycare, I had to figure out how to get her to eat.

One day, I made a face out of the food for lunch and she loved it so much that she ate everything on her plate. She thought it was funny that she was eating eyes, and hair, and nose and mouth. I kept doing this and eventually she would ask for a face for lunch.

As she got older and needed more food, I would make the face, then would put more of the same food in a plate beside it. Sometimes she rearranged the face to make her own, like add a forehead, or a hair clip. Sometimes, she would rival Picasso in her placement of body part!

I started taking pictures of it and posted them on Facebook. Apparently this inspired some of my Facebook friends to do the same and they asked me to continue posting my faces. So to the request of friends and family, here are some of my faces. Note that she has no allergies, so it makes things easier.

    I love the idea – my granddaughter is 2 1/2 years old and is exhibiting traits of a picky eater. I will share this with my daughter and let her make her meals fun. I think whenever kids are involved in the preparation they eat better.

    Great ideas! Will have to try them since my son seems to only eat well at lunch when I hand him a lunchables and can’t do that everyday!

    This is a neat idea,dont we ourselves see a cream cheese square covered in chocolate and want it……its all what you see
