I love making healthy homemade smoothies for myself and my family, but I don’t always enjoy the cleanup involved with my full-sized blender. So, when I won a single serve blender from Hamilton Beach through Twitter a couple of months ago I was very eager to see how well it would work.
Admittedly, when I first saw the size of the Hamilton Beach Single Serve Blender I had my doubts as to whether it would be powerful enough to chop up the spinach or kale I put in my smoothies. I was also concerned that it wouldn’t make enough. Needless to say about fifty smoothies later I am in love with my Hamilton Beach Single Serve Blender. Its one-touch blending purees ingredients together quickly, effortlessly and even makes enough smoothie so that if I want to pour my daughter a cup, there is still some left over for me.
The size of the Hamilton Beach Single Serve Blender make it convenient for storage and unlike a lot of full-sized blenders, the blender cup is plastic – meaning it is less likely to break or chip, is durable, and also causes less panic when your four-year old grabs the cup off the counter for a sip.
In addition to its convenience in size and power, the Hamilton Beach Single Serve Blender also sells for a great price, retailing around $18 CDN at Wal-Mart, not only making it affordable for the busy parent, but also for the on-the-go student looking for a quick and nutritious snack.
- A few leaves of spinach or kale (remove stems)
- Handful of strawberries or blueberries (or both – fresh or frozen)
- ¾ cup of plain Balkan style yogurt
- 2 tbsp honey
- ½ cup of orange juice
- Pour orange juice and berries into the blender followed by the kale or spinach, honey, then yogurt. Place lid firmly on top and blend! Serve immediately or store in refrigerator until ready (if the smoothie separates just give it a quick stir).
