Nothing beats cooking a French onion soup during those cold winter days.


French Onion Soup Recipe

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 50 minutes

Serving Size: 4

French Onion Soup Recipe


  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 900ml beef broth
  • 4 slices of French bread or white bread, toasted
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère, Swiss or Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1/3 cup dry white wine (optional)


  1. Cook onions and sugar in hot oil in a large saucepan on medium heat about 15 to 20 min. or until the onions are caramelized (tender and golden brown), stirring occasionally.
  2. Stir in broth and wine, and bring to boil. Simmer on low heat for 20 min.
  3. In a bowl, that you can cook in the oven, pour the soup. Place toast slices on top of soup, and top with cheese. Cook at 400 until cheese is melted.
