Explore in a Paradise for All Ages at the Ottawa Children’s Festival

Are you looking for a fun festival the whole family can enjoy this spring? Get the gang together to explore a paradise for all ages at the 2017 Ottawa Children’s Festival! This festival is a feast for the senses and is a learning experience like no other. This year’s event is taking place from May 10-14, 2017 at LeBreton Flats Park, the Canadian War Museum, the Canadian Museum of History & La Nouvelle Scène in downtown Ottawa.

The Ottawa Children’s Festival has been celebrating the best in live performing arts for children since 1985. Programs are put together for children ages 2-15. The festival focuses on enhancing school curriculum and encourages the importance of the arts as a part of a child’s education. It also plans to excite and challenge its audiences and is proud to create and provide award-winning Canadian and international programming over six days of fun.

What does this the Ottawa Children’s Festival have in store for attendees? This year’s performances are top notch! Love watching fun theatre? A Heart in Winter (Théâtre de l’œil, Montrél), Baking Time (Presentation House Theatre and UK’s Oily Cart Theatre) and The Man who Planted Trees (Puppet State Theatre Company, UK) are three productions children would love to watch and enjoy!

More of a musical performance lover? Africa Land Circus (Productions Kalabanté Québec), I on the Sky (DynamO Théâtre, Montréal) and Ashley MacIsaac (Canada) will blow audiences away with the high energy performances they have planned for audiences this year.

The Ottawa Children’s Festival also has an incredible sculpture for those attending this year’s festival to be a part of. Kantena Luminarioum (Architects of Air, UK) have created a unique world of light and colour to explore. Visitors are able to freely through travel through the labyrinthine tunnels and cavernous domes to wander or to relax in for a spell.

Who doesn’t love a high-flying act? Wanted (eVenti Verticali, Italy) will leave audiences spellbound! It is an acrobatic act on a vertical stage. The two artists play “cops and robbers” after being taken into a cartoon world. Projections on an outdoor screen add to the drama and adventure of this performance.

Have you made your Mother’s Day plans yet? Make some space and take Mom to The Ottawa Children’s Festival for a day of wonder! Take a look at the schedule to check out the line-up and get your tickets! Can’t make it out for Mother’s Day? The festival runs for five days, so you can take a look and plan a day out with your family!

These are just some of the performances the Ottawa Children’s Festival has waiting for its audiences this year. They want for all who attend to learn and be captivated with each performance. It will be a festival you will not soon forget.
