| July 21, 2015 | 4 Comments

Raising funds to help children and keeping the money raised in communities local is the aim of The Children’s Miracle Network. SUBWAY® Restaurants and SocialMoms invited Ottawa Mommy Club to help spread the word about what SUBWAY® Restaurants wants to do for the Children’s Miracle Network in the city of Ottawa through this sponsored post. When I found out what SUBWAY® Restaurants is going to do this summer, I knew I had to share what was happening since I love supporting local charities! From now until August 31, 2015, the more than 7,800 SUBWAY® Restaurants across Canada and the United States are teaming up to raise money for children and their families in the ”You Share. We Share.” campaign running in various cities across Canada and the United States to raise money for local charities. In Ottawa, ”You Share. We Share.” will be benefiting The Children’s Miracle Network.

Since 1983, The Children’s Miracle Network has raised over $4.7 billion dollars to help children who are fighting different conditions from cancer and traumatic injuries to genetic diseases or those in need of constant care because they were born prematurely. The Children’s Miracle Network member hospitals want to care for these children, and there are 170 member hospitals that open their doors and provide them with excellent care. These hospitals also need help to continue to care for all of these children. In Ottawa, The Children’s Miracle Network member hospital is the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).

CHEO has a special place in my heart. A few years ago, my daughter had been admitted to CHEO when she had the flu and was exhibiting other symptoms that we were concerned about. After her doctors ran various tests on my daughter to see what she was suffering from, she was diagnosed, treated, and kept for observation to make sure she was well enough to come home. We were happy to have the help from these doctors at CHEO for helping our little girl get back on her feet.

How can we in the Ottawa area help the ”You Share. We Share.” campaign? When you eat at SUBWAY® Restaurants in the Ottawa area on the weekends this summer, a percentage of their weekend sales, up to $28 000, will be donated directly to The Children’s Miracle Network in Ottawa! The next time I pop into my neighbourhood SUBWAY® Restaurants with my family, I will be ordering my go-to meal: A 6” Turkey Breast on Whole Wheat sandwich meal with lettuce, cucumbers, green peppers, and some salt and pepper for taste; I would add soup and a bottle of water to round out my yummy meal.

So, what are you waiting for? Help support CHEO as a member hospital of The Children’s Miracle Network by rounding up your family and visiting and eating at a SUBWAY® Restaurants in the Ottawa area during the weekends this summer! You’ll be doing more than satisfying your stomach when you buy your meal, you’ll be helping children at CHEO to continue to get the best care possible! So eat, donate and enjoy! Chick here to find a SUBWAY® Restaurants near you. After you have ordered your favourite food, please snap a picture of it and share it on your social media page with the hashtag #YouShareWeShare to help further spread the word about this fabulous campaign!

My name is Lian Wright. Born in Toronto, I came to Ottawa as a student to study Political Science at Carleton University, and came away with an Honours Degree, and decided to stay. I'm a huge sports fan, have a love of reading, and like experiencing new things whenever I can. I am now a mother of three children (11, 1 and 7 months old) and am kept constantly on my toes. My blog, Pieces of Me, is my way of sharing what I have enjoyed and encountered in my life so far as a mother. So far, being a mom has had it's expected ups and downs, but that's what makes being a parent so fulfilling for me. I've loved and learned from what's happened so far, and I can't wait to see what's in store for me next. I hope you enjoy the journey with me! Author's website.
