Easy Peasy Patches – They Really Are Easy Peasy! #Review and #Giveaway #HolidayGiftGuide ~ CAN 12/15

!cid_4FB7158F-A945-43F9-89AB-832C666187F2My busy five-year old daughter is constantly playing on the floor or on the ground and because of this she often wears her pants thin around the knees, sometimes resulting in holes. It was because of this that I was eager to take Easy Peasy Patches up on their offer of reviewing a few of their patches at no cost. I had tried the iron-on patches available at stores such as Wal-Mart and was disappointed to spend time ironing them on only to have them fall off in the wash.

Prior to this review I had never heard of Easy Peasy Patches and so when I noticed a friend on Facebook asking for durable patches for her son’s pants I suggested Easy Peasy. I was a bit surprised when a few fellow moms said they had tried the patches and were disappointed that they too also fell off in the wash.

With this in mind I was eager for my sample of Easy Peasy Patches to arrive in the mail so I could see for myself. The first thing I did was affix my daughter’s favourite patch out of the bunch onto her favourite pair of jeggings that recently sprouted a hole in the knee. It was so easy to do that I reviewed the instructions twice to ensure I wasn’t missing something. Alas, putting an Easy Peasy patch on the jeggings was as simple as removing the backing, placing it over the hole and putting in the dryer on medium heat for about ten minutes.

Moments after the patch was put over the hole.

With her newly repaired pants on, she played outside and inside. She was on her knees playing and wrestling around with our dog. The patch stayed on. The following day, approximately 24 hours later, I put them in the wash with a regular load of laundry. As per the directions, I made sure to wash the pants inside out and in cold water, and I hung the pants to dry. The patch stayed on! My daughter has since worn the pants again and the patch remains on her knee.

I do, however, wonder how well the patches would stay on other kinds of material. The jeggings are a fairly thin cotton pant. In contrast, I noticed one of the matches we put onto her waterproof, silky backpack did not stay on quite as well after a day of rough and tumble use at school (in fact, it was barely hanging on at all).

I love that these patches come in so many different shapes, sizes and patterns. I also love that they don’t have rough edges and are thin enough that they are not intrusive to thinner articles of clothing like a shirt or in my daughter’s case, her jeggings.

Fresh from the wash and the patch is still on!

Fresh from the wash and the patch is still on (the lighting in my laundry room is why everything appears a different colour)

I do suspect though that there are some materials that the patches wouldn’t adhere too quite as well. Also, the instructions include a warning that some detergents and fabric softeners may adhesion. If possible, it would be nice to know which detergents to avoid (I used Tide HE and it was fine).

Having said all that, I can see myself purchasing Easy Peasy patches in the future. They are great for shirts and jeggings (goodness knows my daughter has enough of them) and the patches are also a great way to personalize kids gear. Check out the selection for yourself and once you try them, let me know what you think: http://easypeasypatches.com/

Disclosure: The patches were provided to me at no cost for the purpose of conducting this review, however I only support companies I think others would be interested in hearing about and all opinions are my own.
