Did you follow CBC Searchlight 2016? Celebrating its fourth year, it is a contest where musicians from all corners of Canada compete for a grand prize worth $50 000! This year’s top four finalists got to perform before a studio audience and CBC’s celebrity judging panel during a prime-time televised broadcast to win the top honours. More than 2 000 acts submitted songs from various genres of music. After all of the votes were cast, this year’s winner was announced: Desiree Dawson!
Desiree Dawson resides in Whiterock, British Columbia. Desiree is a warm-hearted and humble woman who wows audiences during her performances with her ukulele. She has had chart-topping singles on Hype Machine with some of the top producers in the current dance music scene. Desiree writes all of her songs to be genuine and emotionally charged. Her music has allowed her to become connected with musicians and producers from all over the world.
For winning CBC Searchlight 2016, Desiree will make an appearance at the CBC Music Festival in Toronto on May 28, 2016. She will receive her grand prize that includes $20 000 worth of equipment for Yamaha Canada, and a Career Booster package from Canadian Musician magazine that comes with a studio session, mentorship, album production, distribution and more!
