Cottage Cheese Gets Updated with Gay Lea’s Nordica Smooth! #‎OneTinyTaste‬

| January 22, 2016 | 6 Comments

Trying to eat a little healthier in 2016? That is one of my goals for the New Year, and I am on the look-out for new foods and dishes to make passing up on the junk food easier. I am really keen on finding a tasty snack that will help to tide me over between my early morning breakfast and my lunch during the work week. I was given the opportunity to try Gay Lea’s Nordica Smooth Cottage Cheese to see if  it was different from the cream cheese I was used to and if I would be adding it to my new snacking regiment.

Nordica Smooth Cottage Cheese has all the benefits of regular cottage cheese, but without the lumpy texture. It is available in creamy and delicious Vanilla Bean, Salted Caramel and Lemon flavours that can be enjoyed on its own, or combined with some many different toppings. Nordica Smooth comes in 100g cup servings, making it an easy, light snack to enjoy anytime of the day.

I was surprised to find out that Nordica Smooth has 25% more protein than leading Greek yogurt. And as a source of calcium, it is the sweeter way to help the body to heal after a workout, it was also great to find out that each serving is packed with 10g of protein, and only has 110 calories. This makes this treat a great ingredient to add to smoothies, shakes, cakes, and muffins without feeling guilty.

I tried all three flavours and I was really surprised by what I had tasted. I used to eat cottage cheese as a child, and I remember how the texture felt gushy and mushy. When I cracked open the Vanilla Bean flavour, I smoothed it around on the roof of my mouth with my tongue, and it was such a different consistency than what I was used to! It was thick and smooth, like a Greek yogurt, but creamier! The flavour was interesting. It reminded me of a Greek yogurt, but it tasted like a flavoured cottage cheese. Whenever I have a spoonful, I’m still trying to find a lump, but it is so thick and creamy. I like adding some dried cranberries to my cottage cheese to add fiber to my snack as well as to give myself a bit of an energy boost after a good workout.

It was so interesting to have a first-hand experience with Nordica Smooth Cottage Cheese, but it was even more fun to see some of my closest friends try these treats for the first time. We planned a get-together at my friend’s home to catch up after the holiday season, and I surprised them with a taste test! They were not allowed to see what I was asking them to taste (which was really brave and awesome of them to do), and to give their honest impressions about what they were eating. What’s even more awesome is that they allowed me to film this experience so I could share it with you! Check out what they thought Nordica Smooth Cottage Cheese in their Vanilla Bean, Salted Caramel and Lemon flavours!

So there you have it! We were all surprised by how thick and smooth Gay Lea’s Nordica Smooth Cottage Cheese.  I liked it enough to want to add it as my pick-me-up treat after my workout routine during the day. If you are curious as to how thick and smooth this creamy cottage cheese is, pick up a pack today and try it for yourself. You really do have to taste it to believe its updated texture.

Thanks for the review and video. Now, I am definitely curious to try it!!

Our family always stayed away from cottage cheese because of the lumps!!

I have tried the salted caramel and all 3 members of my family loved it. It takes great. Can’t wait to try the other 2 flavours. It is low in fat but takes very decadent.
