Community Playgroups

| December 17, 2012

  • Living with a preschooler?
  • Have a new baby?
  • Feeling isolated?
  • Experiencing cabin fever?
  • Want to meet other parents in your neighbourhood?
  • Looking for a playgroup or want to tell us about yours?

For fun and a break from your normal routine, you may want to join a community playgroup or start one of your own.

What is a playgroup?

Children and their parents or caregivers gather once or twice a week to play together, meet new friends, gain new skills, share ideas, learn about sharing and co-operation, and experience many new activities such as music circle-time and messy play. Each playgroup is different as it shapes itself to the meet the needs of its members and its community. Playgroups often meet in churches, schools or community centres; some playgroups meet at members’ homes.

The Parent Resource Centre maintains the most complete and up-to-date list of playgroups in the Ottawa area.
