I had the pleasure of meeting Tina O’Connor, the CEO and inspiration behind Be That Books Publishing, and author of Be That Books series. The book signing was for her new book, Be That Mom, and instructional and inspirational book helping all moms to relax and begin to enjoy more of their time. She began her book signing tour here in Ottawa at Adorit Boutique, a Fair trade eco-fabric boutique nestled in the Byward Market. This was my first book sighing event, so I had no idea what I was in for, and boy, was I surprised!
Dressed up for the first time in ages, I entered Adorit Boutique and was warmly welcomed to the event, and was offered a glass of bubbly and appetizers.
Then Tina O’Connor introduced herself to me, and we started chatting away about her book, as well as Adorit Boutique, and about life. She was also kind enough to have signed a copy of Be That Mom for me. She was very warm and down-to earth, I had a great time getting to speak to her one-on-one.
I also got to look around and explore Adorit Boutique. I wanted to try on so many things because the clothing and accessories sold there were gorgeous!
One of the fascinating displays was the Tibetan Singing Bowls table. Singing bowls are generally used for meditation, relaxing, music or for personal well-being. My attempts with the smaller bowl was poor, but I got a bigger bowl to sing (just barely), and they’re hard to get going without some practice!
After some more socializing and clothing gazing, Tina had us create a five-year plan for ourselves in order to help us to begin to want to do more things for ourselves, and to achieve goals that are more personal to ourselves. It was really fun!
Then it was time to say fare-well to the evening. Tina spoke to each of us in attendance personally, wishing each of us well in her own special way. I wish Tina luck on her cross-country ‘Release You Inner Girl’ tour. After this event, I felt even more inspired to want to achieve the goals I had for myself while being a good mom to my kids. This evening gave me more direction to do so. It was an experience I will not soon forget!
