Already Time for Back to Campus #StudentLife with a Contest and a Twitter Party!

| August 17, 2015 | 3 Comments

Only a few more weeks and it’s back to school already! It certainly can be nerve-racking for first time students, whether if be entering Kindergarten, Junior High, High School, or College and University. I still remember my first year entering College in Business Administration back in 1986. That summer, I decided to get my own apartment with my boyfriend and move out of the family home. It was a stressful time searching for a place to live while working 2 jobs and preparing to enter College. I received a student grant for achieving high marks in High School and also applied for a student loan to help with living and student expenses. Nevertheless, it all worked out for me and I survived the first year jitters!

My daughter’s experience as a first year university student was quite different from mine. She is studying at Ottawa U in Nursing and will be starting her 3rd year. She decided to stay home with us and work part-time to pay for half of her tuitions fees. Her first year was definitely a learning curve since University was quite different from High School, but she loved the freedom it gave her as a new adult! It’s also a good thing that she loves to read, because most of the books she is purchasing for her classes are over 700 pages.

Back in the 80’s, I had to physically visit the College to pay for my fees and choose my courses to fit my schedule. Nowadays, it’s all done conveniently on-line in the comfort of your own home. I also remember shopping the malls for a desk, chair, bookcase, and accessories for my bedroom. How times have changed! Shopping can also done via a browser with access to view the quantity and size available to be shipped or in a specific store.

My daughter’s bedroom is in dire need of some storage help! Books are stored all over and so are her school supplies. Canadian Tire is gearing up for Back to Campus and offering an amazing variety of items for the dorm, living room, bedroom, and kitchen spaces. Yes, you heard right, Canadian Tire is your number one destination for Back to Campus! They have everything your need for your College or University child. My daughter and I are both liking the For Living White Cube Shelves, the Bella Writeable Totes, and the Outbound College Backpack! Check them out!
