All Your Beauty Essentials for Under $100

| February 28, 2013 | 2 Comments

Heading to a sunny destination? Each year, thousands of Canadian families pack their bags and head somewhere warmer to escape the last weeks of winter. With March break just around the corner, here are my make-up recommendations to enhance your natural beauty. These products are available at any drugstore or Walmart and do not come with those inflated department store price tags. While prices can vary depending on the store, I have provided an approximate price for each product.

1.     Olay Total Effects Daily Moisturizer + Touch of Sun (approx. $25)

This rich, creamy moisturizer is the perfect remedy for your skin after all these dry winter months. It fights the signs the aging, leaves skin feeling soft plus adds a hint of colour without that tell-tale scent typical of most sunless tanners. I noticed a glow to my skin almost immediately, firmer skin in a few days and despite the richness of the moisturizer, I had no breakouts whatsoever.

2.     Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller (approx. $16)

This convenient 2-in-1 eye roller uses caffeine to hydrate and refresh the sensitive eye area and tinted mineral pigments to conceal dark under-eye circles. If it can cover my under-eye circles, it will work for anyone. I also love the cooling effect!

3.     L’Oréal true match super-blendable powder (approx. $15)

Grab a fluffy brush and dust all over your face. This product provides light coverage and gives you a more even skin tone. My personal preference is the neutral palette to give me that natural, fresh-faced look and my colour of choice is n4 Buff Beige. Whether you are heading to the beach or to dinner, this powder will help accentuate your natural beauty without looking like you have piled on tons of foundation.

4.     L’Oréal true match super-blendable blush (approx. $15)

Highlight your cheekbones with this super-flattering blush and your face will look healthy and radiant. n3-4 Innocent Flush is a perfect complement to the n4 Buff Beige powder recommended above.

5.     Cover Girl wetslicks (approx. $7)

A luscious lip gloss that will leave your lips soft, shiny but not sticky. Peaches n gleam 345 is the perfect shade to highlight a tan.

6.     Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Blackest Black (approx. $7)

This product has been an industry favourite for years and shows up time and time again on beauty must-have recommendations. A touch of this waterproof mascara is all you will need to elongate those eyelashes and showcase those well-rested eyes. Try the curved brush for easier application.

7.     Olay Wet Cleansing Towelettes for Sensitive Skin (approx. $7)

On a recent weekend getaway, I purchased this Olay product because I forgot to pack my facial wash. I have been using the same facial wash for years because it didn’t give me the breakouts that I had assumed in my 20s were unavoidable. The Olay towelettes however are significantly less expensive, do not require water, and can be used to remove dirt and make-up from around your eyes, face and neck. And no breakouts!

Keep it simple to highlight your natural beauty and most importantly, do not forget to apply sunscreen. Have a great trip!
